PAEDIATRIC ASSESSMENTS AT MANCHESTER OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SERVICES

We are able to provide assessment for your child at home, at school or within our clinic space. We will discuss with you which is the most appropriate environment for this to take place, given your child’s needs and the areas of concern. After school and Saturday appointments can be available on request, please call to discuss this with us.

We provide an initial assessment package which consists of information gathering through our referral form and Care giver questionnaire, followed by a face to face assessment. Our face to face assessment will include a mixture of  clinical observations and standardised tests such as the following:

  • The Movement Assessment Battery for Children (ABC)

  • The Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration(VMI)

  • The Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting (DSH)

  • The Sensory Profile 2

  • Sensory Processing Measure (SPM)

Following the assessment a comprehensive report will be produced, detailing recommendations for your child. We endeavor to share this report with the referrer within 10 working days of the assessment, where possible. The Occupational therapist will be available to go through your report with you, should you require this.

We usually do not hold a waiting list, and are able to book assessments within 2-4 weeks of your referral. However this can vary in relation to urgency of the assessment.
